All of the FOIA files involved in the leak of Climategate II were taken from taxpayer-funded computers and thus were privy to Freedom of Information Act request. But apparently the “consensus” is concerned that the files’ exposure to the light of day might prove fatal to ManBearPig.
From The Examiner:
I [Christopher Horner] have seen apparent proof that the United States Department of Justice (DOJ), Criminal Division, is working with United Kingdom police to pursue the leaker of the 2009 and 2011 “Climategate” emails.
I have learned that last week DOJ sent a search-and-seizure letter to the host of three climate-change “skeptic” blogs. Last night, UK police raided a blogger’s home and removed computers and equipment.

President Prime Minister Vladimir Putin has spoken out against the widespread and unusually vigorous election protests by holding token meetings with the opposition and by turning to an old trick – blaming the uprising on Western “saboteurs.”
Putin explains his position through his mouthpiece Russia Today (RT):
Scapegoating external opponents on internal crises is a tactic that goes back far in Russian history, and builds upon a grain of truth, as most good lies do. During the Russian Civil War from 1918-1922, Western powers, including Britain, France, and the United States, did intervene in the Russian conflict to support the White Armies against the Reds. (Not vigorously enough, in my opinion.)
Most famously, Joseph Stalin blamed the troubles of his Five Year Plans on bourgeois “saboteurs,” which he promptly responded to with the disastrous “Great Purge.”
Vladimir Putin, for his own part, has been hasty to blame Western influence for everything from the colored revolutions in Ukraine, Kyrgyzstan, and Georgia to internal meddling through civil society non-profits. Putin even passed various laws restricting the activities and funding of NGOs to prevent what he perceives as undue influence being wielded in Russian internal affairs.
Knowing who runs these supposedly benevolent democratization NGOs, one can hardly blame Putin for being cautious. But what Putin is alleging is that international monitors calling election results bogus, echoed by the U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, is akin to an act of sabotage. This is an overreach that exposes the brittle nature of modern Russian democratic authoritarianism.
To Putin’s credit, he did acknowledge that Senator John McCain was “crazy,” on route to trashing the protesters.
Harvard students polled by the university believe President Obama will lose in 2012. US News & World Reports:
More bad news for President Obama, this time from his alma mater, Harvard University. In a new poll, more younger voters, many of whom voted for him in 2008, think he will lose next year.
“This survey may well serve as an ominous sign for Barack Obama’s 2012 chances and the political engagement of America’s largest generation,” said John Della Volpe, polling director at Harvard’s Institute of Politics.
Obama continues to bleed in several demographics, save for the black vote. Such doesn’t bode well for Obama, especially in swing states, provided that Republicans can capitalize by sending up a serious nominee.
And – are these young Harvard teabaggers possibly…racist?
One of the most consistent complaints of the American political left is that “the haves” are getting wealthy at the expense of the “have-nots.” But even a cursory glance at readily available data shows that this is not the case.
Since most people who are heavily invested in maintaining their worldview if they believe it is more compassionate to do so are not readily persuadable by normal rhetorical devices, let us look at a few charts to flesh out how there is absolutely no connection between income inequality and individual standard of living, as measured by PPP (Purchasing Power Parity). First, a glance at global wealth by country.

This chart is not from some “right-wing” think tank like the Heritage Foundation, this is from the OECD – the Organization for Economic Co-Operation and Development.
If we factor in Medicare and Medicaid, not to mention WIC and other public health programs, it is easy to see how America was already blowing a ton of money on healthcare before Obamacare was passed. This despite the fact that all but around 15 million American citizens were insured or could afford health insurance. So we should note that in 2008, the United States was already spending more per person on public healthcare than Canada and the United Kingdom.

What’s the cost of living under Obama? In addition to the $12.6 trillion in government “revenue” taken in Fiscal Years 2009-2011, an average of 30% of GDP, the Federal Reserve has “lost” approximately $16 trillion in TARP, bailouts, and outright theft and redistribution.

, a Soviet children’s show from the 1970s, is beloved by Russians for its cute innocence and by the Soviet state for its instruction in proletarian values. The main character, a furry little creature, is still popular and was recently selected as the Russian Olympics mascot
This video excerpt shows the crocodile Gena finding out about a dirty factory, and subsequently, demanding it be cleaned up. This is not malignant in and of itself. But it does show the stirrings of the false narrative that the state can protect the people from the ‘productive contamination’ of industry.

This video was shot for the NoKor nomenklatura. Bears remarkable resemblance to our Dancing with the Stars
, don’t ya think?
Maybe in twenty years, all American kids will know these lyrics.
A Soviet propaganda film depicting the death of a millionaire who leaves her fortune to her bulldog could have been written by today’s Democrat Party.
Fascinating cartoon film describing the Nazis’ rise to power. Particularly relevant is the section from 5:18 on the abuse of education, including pictures of Hitler placed in the classroom to foment a cult of personality. It should be noted that this was also done in many American classrooms under FDR, and reminds one of the classroom addresses
of the Obama administration.
Now this is what a principled and sane political movement looks like.
Ann Coulter appeared with the vapid “conservative’s conservative” Sean Hannity to endorse Mitt Romney, calling him the “most conservative candidate in the field.” The former Massachusetts governor is a global warming acolyte, illegal immigration amnesty supporter, individual mandate endorser and Romneycare architect, and self-confessed progressive.
Below is the video of Mitt Romney describing his “progressive views” in 2002:
Ann Coulter’s idiotic line makes the third presumed conservative “jumping the shark” in less than a week: Ron Paul with his 9/11 “glee” comment
, Glenn Beck with his attack on the tea party
for possibly being ‘racist’ for supporting Newt, and now Ann Coulter arguing that Mitt Romney is the most conservative presidential contender.
This is not the first time Ann had displayed questionable judgment endorsing a candidate. Her love affair with the predominately progressive New Jersey Governor Chris Christie is now thrown in a new light with her recent crush on Mitt Romney. Coulter is showing a pattern of posing as a staunch conservative while supporting progressives.
There are so many sharks being jumped by our conservative punditry that the right-wing is quickly turning into Sea World.
If Obama is hoping for a “rally around the flag” effect, maybe he shouldn’t hold his crotch during the national anthem.
There are reports surfacing of U.S. troops gathering in Jordan near the Syrian border. It is unclear if the exercise is merely saber-rattling, or the preparatory stages for an excursion into Bashir Assad’s Syria.
The Syrian government has been condemned for its human rights abuses by the United Nations Human Rights Council (which Syria was recently elected to) and even the Arab League.
It should be noted that Hillary Clinton at the State Department under Barack Obama had given leeway to Assad, especially during the early stages of the administration.
Now we hear the war drums beating again.
From Pat Dollard’s website comes a post by Debkafile regarding the developing situation:
As the US completes its final withdrawal from Iraq, American special forces troops have been diverted to positions in Jordan opposite a Syrian tank concentration building up across the kingdom’s northern border, debkafile’s military and intelligence sources report.
As of last Thursday, military convoys, air transports and helicopters have been lifting US troops across the border from Iraq. They have been deployed in position to ward off a possible Syrian invasion in the light of President Bashar Assad’s warning that he would set the entire Middle East on fire if the pressure on his regime to step down persisted.
Syria’s other neighbors have taken precautions against this contingency but this is the first time US boots have hit the ground directly opposite Assad’s army.

The question becomes: Will Barack Obama once again circumvent the Constitutional requirement of a Congressional declaration of war, as he did with the Libyan invasion? Even under the questionable War Powers Act the president has to submit to advise and consent with the Senate within 90 days. Thus far, no such application has been made, as even the New York Times reported. Obama bluntly stated that the War Powers Act “doesn’t apply”! This is a step beyond even saying that The Constitution doesn’t apply.
Will all the leftists who declared the Bush administration as “neocons,” even after Democrats “authorized” him to take the country to war (a motion presumably covered by the Constitutional requirement of a Congressional declaration of war)? Or will they remain silent, being the immoral statist dupes that they are?
Ladies and Gentleman, these mainstream journalists are men of integrity and class.
Actually, F. Chuck Todd looks a bit like Ron Burgundy, if he could grow his hair out a bit:
Through BigGovernment, there is an outstanding website linked called “Yep, They Said It” that cites left-wingers explaining how they plan to deprive Americans of media freedom, and yes, usher in a socialist revolution.
It’s always preferable to cite the sicko left than describe it, when possible. So here is a sample:
- “Any serious effort to reform the media system would have to necessarily be part of a revolutionary program to overthrow the capitalist system itself.”
(The U.S. Media Reform Movement – Monthly Review, September 15, 2008)
- “There is no real answer (to the U.S. economic crisis) but to remove brick by brick the capitalist system itself, rebuilding the entire society on socialist principles.”
(A New New Deal under Obama? (with John Bellamy Foster) – Monthly Review, December 21, 2008)
- “Our job is to make media reform part of our broader struggle for democracy, social justice, and, dare we say it, socialism. It is impossible to conceive of a better world with a media system that remains under the thumb of Wall Street and Madison Avenue, under the thumb of the owning class.”
(Journalism, Democracy, … and Class Struggle – Monthly Review, November 2000)
And there’s much, much more.
Peter Ferrara has penned and informative and apt description of the Obama presidency, mixing frank biography and startling economic numbers. Based on Obama’s socialist coming out party in Kansas, it frames the current president’s administration as particularly disengenuous and disastrous.
The following is a brief sample.
Moreover, that 40% of federal income taxes paid by the top 1% was more than paid by the bottom 95% combined, according to official IRS data. While the top 1% paid 40% of federal income taxes, the bottom 40% paid no federal income taxes as a group on net. Today 47% pay no federal income taxes.
Yet, Obama has already enacted under current law further tax increases on the nation’s job creators, investors and small businesses going into effect in 2013, when the tax increases of Obamacare become effective and the Bush tax cuts expire. Consequently, that year the top two income tax rates would rise by close to 20%, the capital gains tax would soar by nearly 60%, the tax on dividends would nearly triple, and the Medicare payroll tax would rocket up by 62% for these disfavored taxpayers. This alone would take us well beyond the Clinton tax rates, despite Obama’s outdated talking point that he is still repeating from 2008.
This is in addition to America suffering with virtually the highest corporate tax rate in the industrialized world at nearly 40% on average, counting state corporate rates. As I have previously noted, even Communist China imposes only a 25% rate, with the rate in the EU even less on average. Our Canadian neighbors, enjoying a booming economy since Obama was elected in America, will enjoy a 15% rate next year, down from 16.5% this year.
It is well worth a complete reading.

The dramatic biographical film The Iron Lady, starring the supremely talented and eminently outstanding Meryl Streep, is reputed to shoot British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher’s political life through the prism of an addled, senile old lady riddled with dementia and unable to recall what she ate for breakfast. Well, I can tell these misguided thespians what she ate for breakfast: Leftists.
The film looks to be yet another work of the historical revisionary left to besmirch all eloquent and principled opponents of socialism (and yes, that is what she routinely called it, without smirks or laughter from the British audience). The American counterpart of Thatcher, Ronald Reagan, is ridiculed by the left in the same way as The Iron Lady sets out to do – through exploiting an elderly person’s infirmities in order to tarnish the conservative agenda of expanding individual freedom. But ultimately, their lofty and uplifting defenses of liberty outshine the duplicitous typecasting of their petty, unscrupulous enemies.
What you won’t get in The Iron Lady is Thatcher’s intellectual decimation of socialist arguments, something our currently pathetic GOP field would do well to look to for inspiration as we deal with an increasingly socialist Democrat party. When the two leading Republican candidates to take on the radical Obama all but declare themselves to be progressives, the republic is in serious trouble.
The following are a modest sample of Margaret Thatcher’s finest lines. They display what thoughtful, ideologically consistent, and spirited opposition to the left sounds like.
