Elephant Talk: Senator McConnell Condemns Obama for Having “Enough” Unelected, Unaccountable Czars

by RogueOperator

If ever there were an example of the faux-tough talk of the Republican Party in defiance of the naked tyranny of the Obama administration, it’s a recent memorandum sent out by Senate Minority Leader McConnell to stir up unhinged tea party types and get them into the RINO big tent. But the language is simply laughable, and shows the abject dearth of principle in this pretend opposition party.

Take a gander for yourself, but first a little mood music.

And now the memo:

Senators Demand Accountability For CFPB

Argue That ‘No Single Person Who’s Unaccountable To The American People Should Have That Much Power,’ 45 Sign Letter To President

‘We Don’t Need Any More Unelected, Unaccountable Czars In Washington’

“…the Director of the CFPB, by design, is set to lead one of the least accountable and most powerful agencies in Washington. What we’re saying is no single person who’s unaccountable to the American people should have that much power. We are asking for the same structure as the SEC, the CFTC, and the FDIC, the FTC, the NLRB, and the Consumer Product Safety Commission — the same structure we use anytime we give unelected bureaucratsnew powers that need to be checked to protect against abuse. … We don’t need any more unelected, unaccountable czars in Washington.” (Sen. McConnell, Floor Remarks, 12/6/11)

Presumably, this memo was dispatched to persuade us right-wing nuts that the Republicans actually give a damn about preserving democratic accountability and the Constitutional rule of law. Failed again, losers. If you’re going to lie, you might want to write fiery polemics that don’t make conservatives giggle.
