The OccupyWallStreet Crowd’s In-No-Way Socialist List of Demands

by RogueOperator

There seems to be some active denial or even potential disinformation about the #OccupyWallStreet aka #OccupyAllStreet crowd.  Many participants are denying that they seek Obama’s re-election, and that they are socialists.

Some major news media outlets claim the “movement” is picking up steam, while leftwing organizations like are lending it support. A public relations firm in New York City is already working to run interference for the small group, which feigns to imitate the Egypt uprisings (sans the raping of female journalists, presumably).

As a counterpoint, let’s examine one popular proposed list of demands on the OccupyWallStreet website (Attention: This is not parody! I would never stoop to such “low-hanging fruit.”):

Demand one: Restoration of the living wage. […]

Demand two:Institute a universal single payer healthcare system. […]

Demand three: Guaranteed living wage income regardless of employment. […]

Demand four: Free college education.

Demand five: Begin a fast track process to bring the fossil fuel economy to an end while at the same bringing the alternative energy economy up to energy demand.

Demand six: One trillion dollars in infrastructure (Water, Sewer, Rail, Roads and Bridges and Electrical Grid) spending now.

Demand seven:One trillion dollars in ecological restoration […]

Demand eight: Racial and gender equal rights amendment. (Umm, don’t we already have those?)

Demand nine: Open borders migration. anyone can travel anywhere to work and live.

Demand ten: Bring American elections up to international standards of a paper ballot precinct counted and recounted in front of an independent and party observers system.

Demand eleven:Immediate across the board debt forgiveness for all. […]

Demand twelve: Outlaw all credit reporting agencies.

Demand thirteen: Allow all workers to sign a ballot at any time during a union organizing campaign or at any time that represents their yeah or nay to having a union represent them in collective bargaining or to form a union. (AKA Card Check)

These demands will create so many jobs it will be completely impossible to fill them without an open borders policy.

That’s certainly from the Leftist part of the movement, but the Occupation is a big tent.

A big circus tent. I want to see evidence that more than a few demonstrators are for upholding The Constitution, private property, and the rule of law, and are for more of a free market. Otherwise, I have provided evidence to the contrary, and I need to see counter-evidence.

Thanks for adding your opinion. RO

I love the living wage part. So who is going to produce the stuff they live off of? Everyone is getting a hand out, most will chose not to work. Why? Sugar daddy is paying you already.

But the best irony are those trying to call this a grass roots organization. It is a mob, but not a grass roots one. It is staged and planned by the powers on the left. That any dare call for Obama to go is a surprise. Their handlers are not happy with that one.
