Obamacare's Stairway to Debt Heaven

Obamatax’s cost estimates — keep going up and up and up. Wow, what a freaking surprise.

Yeah, and if history is any example, I have been told that when they sold the idea of Medicare; it has now proven to cost something like SEVEN times their original projections.

Nice headline. Not even a classic rock guitar solo can redeem the situation.

And yet, instead of this being a great example of government failure on many levels and using this as evidence to retract a bad idea, this will be used to harness more power for the government — i.e., no 20oz sugary beverages due to obesity costing too much and more government control over decision on how we decide to stay healthy, or not. Even as those gross encroachments on liberty fail, it won’t stop them until the cumulative failures reaches it’s ultimate conclusion — the system’s inability to sustain those who make the decisions due to a catastrophic failure, thus finally putting a stop to their idiotic, back words, false, reality evading thinking.

This is the power of ideas and philosophy; they are remaining consistent because they are invested in a premise — men’s interests left to themselves are naturally antagonistic to others and to themselves without the interdiction of government — and they will follow it wherever it may take them. As President Obama once said, “economies fail despite the best laid plans.” I’m assuming best means the most consistent plans that align with their basic premise, and failure suggests a problem with reality and not their ideas.

The power of philosophy can work in the other direction; it can build and progress a society. False premises lead to false conclusions and acting on false information leads to undesirable, or at least unknowable outcomes, that tend to destroy that which you are seeking. The idea is to check one’s premises (constantly if necessary) to ensure their validity and build valid conclusions based on true premises.

So, rather than being antagonistic, men’s interests are actually harmonious assuming justice is enforced by a limited government — i.e., an individual’s right to liberty and property are secured from both government and other individuals or groups of individuals. Read the “harmonies of political economy” book 1 and 2, by Frederic Bastiat for proof of this simple fact. Securing liberty and property is the answer to progress, not restraint and controls.

You can comment all you want. Take the illegal aliens and those who don’t want insurance out of the picture and what do you have? Also, costs for Obamacare are already four times what he said that would be. So thanks to all you faux-compassionate folks for that.
